Everbuild Building Products Ltd manufactures a range of building sealants, adhesives, and fillers from their facility in Leeds, UK. To meet growing demand from both professional and DIY markets, Everbuild installed new bulk bag unloaders and conveyors to enable efficient material handling and produce high-quality building products. The system was further enhanced by Akona’s ability to integrate a weighing and batching system using load cells to automate material discharge and dosing.

Integrated System for Accurate Additive and Bulk Material Feeding

We supplied a T3 Loss-in-Weight Bulk Bag Unloader with a flexible screw conveyor and a feed chute system, in addition to a sack tip station and an aero mechanical conveyor with a control panel. Together, the full system ensured bulk materials and minor additives were added to mixers with precise and controlled dosing.

Precise Discharge with T3 Bulk Bag Unloader

The T3 bulk bag unloader has a load cell arrangement specifically designed to discharge accurate quantities of bulk material, with spout closure bars allowing the neck of partially discharged bags to be tied off and removed once the required amount has been unloaded.

Custom Flexible Screw Conveyor and Sack Tip Station with Integrated Dust Control

A flexible screw conveyor was manufactured to the unique dimensions of the facility, transporting discharged materials into a collection hopper. Minor additives supplied in 55 lb / 25 kg bags are loaded manually via the sack tip station. As standard, these feature secure dust hoods with a plastic strip curtain to minimize operators’ exposure to the materials, with integration directly to the pre-existing filtration system ensuring dust is drawn away from the operator as it is created.

Fully Contained Material Handling

Products like titanium dioxide, glass beads, and chalk-based compounds can be harmful when airborne and pose health and safety risks if not regularly controlled. Akona’s handling equipment allows for fully contained material handling, preventing dust and airborne materials from spreading through the facility. It also reduces the need for manual handling, promoting worker safety and allowing redistribution of labor across the wider facility.
