Cablevey Conveyors has unveiled two retrofit upgrades designed to reduce material loss and enhance productivity: CleanDrop and CleanTray. These are the first major product introductions since Cablevey joined Akona Process Solutions.

The CleanDrop system addresses the challenge of carryover, where residual product sticks to conveyor discs and passes beyond its intended discharge point. By gently agitating the discs through a redesigned discharge tube, CleanDrop shakes free product that would otherwise be wasted. Initially developed for coffee applications, lab tests showed a tenfold reduction in carryover when handling ground coffee. The retrofit only requires a replacement tube, making installation straightforward.

CleanTray focuses on the turnaround section of the conveyor, where material often escapes the flow path. The new tray collects this product and returns it to the system, preventing waste and preserving yield. Its three-piece design moves naturally with the carriage while maintaining product integrity. Like CleanDrop, CleanTray is available as a retrofit for existing systems.

“These are simple, cost-effective upgrades that solve real problems for processors,” said John Adair, new product development engineering manager at Akona. “By focusing on problem points such as carryover and turnaround, we’ve created solutions that reduce waste and improve yield without requiring investment in new systems.”

Both innovations are already in use at major coffee facilities and are now available worldwide.
