Spiroflow, part of Akona Process Solutions, has released its 2024 State of Bulk Bag Handling report, offering detailed insights into current industry priorities and investment plans. The research indicates that 77% of respondents plan to upgrade or replace their bulk bag handling systems within the next two years.
The report also indicates strong business growth, with 98% of participants reporting increased activity over the past year and more than half seeing growth of over 11%. Efficiency was highlighted as a key driver, with 44% aiming to improve operational performance through the acquisition of new equipment. Another 42% cited the need to reduce downtime by investing in systems with easier maintenance and quicker part replacement.
Operator safety and ergonomics are also influencing decisions. Nearly one-third of respondents reported a focus on reducing manual lifting and repetitive movements that can lead to injury.
Spiroflow's own developments reflect these priorities. Its Cone Table Elite bulk bag filler is capable of filling over 40 bags per hour with weighing accuracy of +/- 1–2 lbs, offering significant gains compared to conventional systems. With advanced densification technology, the unit can fit up to 25% more product per bag, cutting storage and shipping costs. The company has also introduced a new sack tip station to improve air quality and ease of handling.
With operations in the UK, Germany and the USA, Spiroflow designs and manufactures material handling equipment and automated solutions for food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical and energy markets.
